BUTTERFLIES GALORE

042424 Butterflies FlutterBUTTERFLY FLUTTER

From the Retired Butterfly Kisses DSP, Debbie has created a cute, cheerful butterfly card on Parakeet Party cardstock – soon to retire.   Any message can be added but its perfect just as it is.  This would make a great pick-me-up card.

042424 Butterflies Flutter 2The butterflies are pre-cut for us with the Brother Scan’n Cut.  This second sample features the butterflies on the reverse side.  Calypso Coral ribbon adds a touch of dimension.

042424 Butterflies Flutter msg layer

The message layer features a strip of the Butterfly Kisses DSP and any butterfly you choose to add

BUTTERFLY BLUES042424 Butterfly Blues - PP

We all loved the Christmas Holy Family card we did on glossy photo paper.  Butterfly Blues follows the same concept.  A butterfly file was purchased from Etsy.  We chose this print, sized it in MS Word, and printed it.  We have Pacific Point cs cut for the card on the left.  The card on the right is the same print, but done on Balmy Blue cs.  We will have Balmy Blue cs available for those to cut if they prefer the lighter blue.

BOTANICAL BUTTERFLIES

042424 Butterflies 2From the retired Botanical Butterfly DSP, a few lone sheets remain.  What better paper to use for a butterfly card than this.  This Highland Heather and Basic Black card features strips of DSP that have a circle cut from the bottom.  The circle is adhered slightly below the strip but matched to the print.  Its a card that really catches your eye.

042424 Butterflies 3

There is a major difference between this sample and the sample above.  The first sample has the strips and the circles popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The second sample has only the separated circle raised on dimensionals.  you can choose either way.  Note the die-cut mustached shaped embellishment at the bottom of the card.  You can use either version or even use one on the front and the other on the message layer.  There are several messages that can be stamped on the sentiment circle.

May Stamp Camp is very soon – May 2nd and 3rd – Thursday and Friday – from 10am to 4pm.  As Debbie is out with a broken elbow, I need your help in letting me know what day you will be attending, and what cards you choose to make.

As a reminder, the current catalog ends April 30th.  I have your new catalogs here.  However, the prices have increased slightly on many of the staple items – paper, inks, blends, gems.  My 25% discount is still in effect, so you may want to place an order before April 30th.

A Fractured Card

Fractured cards are quite popular right now and I thought this would be a great opportunity to share the technique.

IMG_1808What exactly is a fracture?  According to Wikipedia, Fracture is the appearance of a crack or complete separation of an object or material into two or more pieces under the action of stress.  Well, we don’t apply stress to our card, but you can see how it is “fractured” into 5 different parts.  What is the secret to a fractured card?  1/4” strips of card stock that are methodically adhered around the focal point.  The strips must abut exactly to the DSP and the strip it encounters.

IMG_1806

You can see in the second sample how the strips are run differently than the first sample.  Your directions will indicate where to start and where to end as you adhere your strips around your Flight and Airy DSP.  Note how the fracture accents your focal point – Flight and Airy DSP.  Each square of DSP will show 3 birds – albeit in different poses.  The shade of blue used for the Fractured Card is Azure Afternoon – one of the  new blues Stampin’ Up came out with in 2023.

IMG_1810

Where you place your DSP also plays into your fractured appearance.  It appears that in my 3 samples, the DSP placement was very similar.  Note the rhinestone embellishments for each card – clear rhinestones colored with either a blue or pink Sharpie.  The sentiments are from the Calming Camellia Stamp Set and the strip ends are finished with the Banners Pick a Punch.

You’ve now seen the 3 cards featured at April Stamp Camp.  We are trying for a 4th card and if it comes about, it will be the mystery card!

Please let me know if you are coming to April Stamp Camp, which day you plan on attending, and which cards you wish to make.  I look forward to seeing your smiling faces!

THE BIRD

IMG_1814So Debbie said to me – what is the name of this card.  I said – I don’t know, it’s a bird.  So…she named the card THE BIRD!!!  Once again, we are using the Flight and Airy DSP but this time, we are adhering the DSP to a strip of Blueberry Bushel and adhering it to the Azure Afternoon card front.  A Blueberry hexagon is layered with a smaller hexagon in whatever color goes best with your bird.  The majority of the single birds have been pre-cut IMG_1812with the Brother Scan’n Cut but a few require fussy cutting.  I chose Lemon Lolly for my hexagon to coordinate with the bird’s tummy.  The birds come in assorted colors.

The hexagons come from the Beautiful Shapes Dies.  The die for the sentiment and tiny leaves come from the Thoughtful Expressions Dies.

In the second sample, I chose a Highland Heather hexagon to coordinate with my bird’s belly.  Both cards are embellished with Tinsel Gems which come in blue, pink, green and yellow.  As an afterthought, I should have used yellow gems on my first card but the blue looks fine.

Did you know I am offering a 25% discount on any orders except Paper Pumpkin?  This is a great way to pick up some DSP, sparkling embellishments and bundles!

On April 15, from 10:30-2:30, I am again hosting Cards, Coffee and Water.  We had fun this month with 2 crafters, 4 boxes of paper pumpkin, and a kit box.  There is no charge for this even.  This is just a chance to come for Coffee, Tea and water and create something fun from the offerings of Stampin’ Up.  There is no cutting required, your tool box is out for you, and you can have some fun.  This event is limited to 4 people, so the first 4 people that reply with interest will be chosen to attend.

Also for your calendars, May Stamp Camp will feature butterflies and will be held on Thursday-Friday, May 2nd and 3rd from 10am – 4pm.

Please let me know which day you plan on attending April Stamp Camp – April 4th or April 5th – and which cards you wish to make.

APRIL STAMP CAMP–Flight and Airy

During Sale-A-Bration, I was able to get 3 packages of Flight and Airy DSP absolutely free!  I know several of you took advantage of the Sale-A-Bration and also obtained some of this beautiful DSP.  Although our creations for April Stamp Camp all feature Flight and Airy, most any medium lowered pattern would work just as well.

IMG_1816I love the cheerful colors of this DSP.  This fun fold is scored at 2 3/4 and 8 1/4.  I find it’s easier to simply score at 2 3/4 at each short end than to measure the 8 1/4.  The color combination is Bubble Bath and Fresh Freesia. The 2 white panels are embossed with my favorite Crosshatch 3D embossing folder.  I discovered a way to use this embossing folder much easier than last month.  Note the script at the top of the card.  This comes from the Sweetly Scripted Stamp Set.  St amps also include Happy Anniversary, Speedy Recover, Congratulations, A Million thanks, and Save the Date.  I love the flourishes at the beginning and end of the stamp.

IMG_1815

If you choose not to stamp a sentiment on your card, you will still have a cheerful card worthy of any occasion.  I prefer not placing a sentiment on the beautiful DSP which explains the use of the Sweetly Scripted Stamp at the top of the card.

When the card is opened, the recipient will find a cheerful scalloped bird on the message layer.  This little added touch carries the theme of the DSP throughout the card and is sure to bring a smile to the recipient.

IMG_1819April Stamp Camp will be held on April 4th and 5th from 10am until 4pm.  Currently we have 3 cards planned for the month.  If there is time for a 4th card, it will be a surprise until you come to stamp camp.

Our theme for May will be butterflies and flowers will be the focus of June.

We will have some stamp sets for sale at April Stamp Camp from $3 to $5. Cards remain $3.50 each.  Cards to go will be limited.  I think there are some cookies in the cabinet that we can snack on during April Stamp Camp.  My Keurig offers 5 different types of DD coffee, and we have plenty of tea bags and water.

Hope to see you on April 4th or 5th.  Please let me know which day you plan on coming and which cards you would like to do.

Blessings,

Rosemary – (Cell)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

The cards above are your most basic cards – very simple, yet resplendent in rich color.  Each card features 3 embellishments – brass birds, butterflies, dragonflies.  You choose your embellishments.  Note the sentiment on the card to the right – it adds a personal touch without detracting from the beauty of the card.

Boho Blue 11 X 4 1/4 scored @ 5 1/2; DSP trimmed to 5 1/4 X 4 – keep the extra DSP to brighten up the message layer!

022224 mambo side fold open022224 mambo side fold closedThis Melon Mambo Gate Fold care features a full meadow when the card is closed but shows the split meadow when the card is open.  A sentiment was added to show how the sentiment can be used without distracting from the card.

The typical gatefold card has been embellished with two pieces of a cloudy DSP pattern that is found on a meadow backside.  A belly band in Blueberry Bushel and Crushed Curry would also be a festive.addition

Crushed Curry 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 scored 2 1/8” and 4 1/4; DSP (3 pieces)5 1/4 X 2; White cs 5 1/4 X 2

022224 Arch St Patricks just shamrocks022224 Arch St Patricks

This simple card is actually like our first one with the exception of die-cutting an arch out of the Shaded Spruce front and adhering DSP behind the arch.  Note that one card bears a St Patrick’s Day sentiment and a shamrock.  The first card has 2 shamrocks that are difficult to see.  The arch is part of the Garden Meadow Bundle.

Shaded Spruce 11 X  4 1/4 scored at 5 1/2; DSP 5 1/4 X 4; the Crosshatch Embossing Folder was also used on the front and back of the card before the arch was cut out

The cost of our March Stamp Camp – March 7th and 8th from 10am-4PM – will be $20.  You will get an unopened package of Meandering Meadows DSP.  You will also get cut cardstock to make 4 cards and 12 brass butterflies/birds/dragonflies of your choice.  If you know now what 4 cards you want and tell us now, we will have the card stock cut for you.  If you would rather wait til you come and choose, we will help you cut your cardstock and DSP to size.  We will also have out additional cs you can purchase by the sheet to make additional cards here or at home.  Colored cs is $.50 per sheet which generally makes 2 cards.  White cs is $.30 per sheet which makes 4 message layers.  if you want the brass embellishments, they are $.10 each.  .

Don’t forget 25% off any Stampinup products and take advantage of SALEABRATION.

Go to you onsite store here https://paperrose01.stampinup.net/ and scroll down to the catalog and the Saleabration items.  25% off anything except paperpumpkin and suites.  Please let me know if you are coming, and if so, what day.  Thanks for being there for me.  Rosemary

SUCH A BLESSING

IMG_0044You Are Such A Blessing is a double decker pop-up card. This is another Z-fold but has an added layer which is why it is called a double decker pop-up card.  The retired Blackberry Beauty DSP with the beautiful gold leaves is perfect for the fall season. The colors used are Blackberry Bliss, gold metallic Cinnamon Cider and Very Vanilla.  The Cane Weave 3-D embossing fold adds great texture to the Cinnamon Cider side panels

IMG_0048As the card opens, you can see the second layer which is attached to the Cinnamon Cider side panel.  This mechanism for the additional layer is a piece of cake.  The videos I watched made it sound difficult but it truly is not.  I will have pictures in the directions that show just how to make the mechanism and attach it.

IMG_0052The card is designed to be either a Thanksgiving card or a birthday card.  Of course if you need an anniversary, get well or thinking of you message, we can find a stamp that will be perfect.  And of course Blackberry Bliss ink is the perfect color to use.  If you wish, additional leaves could be stamped on the message layer.

And this is the end of November Stamp Camp – 3 cards.  We will be offering additional Christmas cards for December Stamp Camp which will be held on NOVEMBER 1, DECEMBER 2 AND DECEMBER 3.  Please let me know which cards you wish to make, what day you plan on attending and if you will need cards to go.  Please feel free to contact me – preferably by text or phone – if you have any questions or concerns.  I tend to fall behind on my e-mail.  There are not enough hours in the day!

Rustic Thanksgiving Crate

IMG_0024I love fall – except of course for the temperature change.  But the beauty of the changing colors we see in the forest preserves – rusts, oranges, bright yellows, deep burgundy – those colors are magical.  The Rustic Crate was a set I fell in love with in the fall Stampin’ Up mini catalogue.  Filling the rustic crate with fall pumpkins, sunflowers and corn stalks is so very appropriate at this time of year.  To add height and dimension, I split the colored image into 2 images.

IMG_0061The card above shows a sunflower at the top of the filled crate.  The card to the right has extra corn stalks at the top of the filled crate. Using the extra half of the image adds so much more interest to the design.

This card is a Cajun Craze Z=-fold with the DSP layered on Pumpkin Pie.  Soft Sea Foam on the back panel provides contrast.  It’s actually a card within a card.

IMG_0027As the Z-fold opens, more of the beautiful DSP appears.  For some reason the 2 side panels matched which was unexpected and rarely occurs.

IMG_0034When the card opens completely, you see the message layer – perfect for a short Thanksgiving  note.  I think this is such a cute card and so appropriate for the Thanksgiving season.

Wait ’til you see the next card – a brand new fun fold!

HOLY NIGHT

Can you believe there are only 64 days until Christmas???  64 days!!!  Our first card for November Stamp Camp is here to help the 2023 Christmas card rush!

IMG_0038 (1)This is an absolutely lovely card and is of the quality you would purchase at your favorite store.  The print is from Divinity Designs and is layered on holographic silver paper and Starry Sky.  The PEACE sentiment is die cut on silver and is one complete piece.  The beautiful star is popped-up on the sentiment but could be placed higher if desired.

IMG_0040 (1)The message layer features a single holographic star.  There are many appropriate messages that would be very appropriate and stylish stamped in Starry Sky.  My suggestion is to always stamp the message before you adhere the embellishment  or layer as you can easily flip the cardstock over and restamp if you make a boo boo –something I am famous for!

November Stamp Camp is Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 2, 3, and 4 from 10am to 4pm each day. There will be leftover Halloween candy available for your sweet tooth!  As always, I plea with you to let me know as soon as you can, what day you plan on coming, what cards you would like to make, and if you need cards to go.  Although Holy Night is the only Christmas card planned for this month, there will be several more at DECEMBER STAMP CAMP WHICH WILL BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 30 AND DECEMBER 1ST AND 2ND.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!  Blessings, Rosemary – (h)630.759.3089 – (c)630.965.1965.

STAINED GLASS POINSETTIA

09.25.23 Poinsettia top viewA fellow crafter recently gave me a a beautiful card that looked like stained glass.  We are going to give this technique a try at October Stamp Camp.  Debbie subscribes to Creativefabrica.com which is a digital design company.  One of the digital designs she received was a stained glass poinsettia trio sized at 2 3/4” square, 3 3/4”square and 4 3/4” square.  She shared the file with me which is how the poinsettia card to the left evolved.  Amazon has multiple types of glossy photo paper and I chose the HP Premium Plus Glossy.  As Pacific Point cs went well with the poinsettia background, we cut a 10 X 5” card scored at 5”.

09.25.23 Poinsettia sideThe additional Pacific Point pieces cut were 4” square and 3” square.  Making the card is actually very simple.  The largest print is adhered to the 5” square card base.  The 3.75” square print is adhered to the 4” square cs and adhered with DIMENSIONALS to the 5” card base.  Likewise, the 2.75” square print is adhered to the 3” square cs and adhered with DIMENSIONALS to the 4” layer.  All that’s left is to stamp a message in Pacific Point on the 4.75” square message layer and adhere it inside the card.  The time consuming part is printing and cutting,

Although the Stained Glass Poinsettia card is easy to make, it is not inexpensive.  With the cost of all the paper, square envelope, printing ink and extra dimensionals, this card will be available for $4.50.  The other 3 cards remain priced at $3.50.

As October is my birthday month, I celebrate by giving a 20% discount to all my crafters.  This discount ends on October 31 and is eligible for any Stampin’ Up products except for paper pumpkin.

Please let me soon as soon as you can which cards you wish to make and which day you plan on coming to stamp camp.  The best way to contact me is by text at 630.965.1965.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any concerns or questions.

AUTUMN PUMPKIN TRUCK

09.25.23 Cajun Craze TruckI really wanted to design a fall truck card. I had a card style in mind, but my truck was too large!  I knew the old Loads of Love wood stamp set was in my library as a crafter had recently gifted it to me. So, I took the stamps I wanted to use, popped them in the microwave for about 10 seconds, removed the rubber backing and replaced it with cling backing.  This allowed me to use the Stamparatus to guarantee accurate pumpkin stamping on the back of the truck.  In the old days before the Stamparatus, we used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig for accurate placement.

This sample features a Cajun Craze older truck that shows some wear and tear provided by the color lifter.  Wink of stella adds shine to the pumpkins, tires, and other areas of the little truck.  The sentiment is embellished with a button, 2 pieces of angled Early Espresso ribbon, and orange Baker’s twine tied in a shoestring bow. There is an assortment of buttons to choose from but if you have a favorite you would like to use, bring it with you.

09.25.23 Green TruckThe green truck on the second sample has some rust due to the truck’s age but it still carries pumpkins to market with pride.  Your truck can be any color you choose.  I tried a black truck but had trouble “aging” it.  A brown truck would be perfect as would any of the orange or green colors.  The choice is up to you. Feel free to experiment!  The rust on this sample came from a bit of Pale Papaya gently applied with a Q-tip.  This card is old fashioned but very reminiscent of fall.  This would be a great masculine birthday card!

09.25.23 Truck msg layerThe message layer for the Autumn Truck Card features the same stamped set of pumpkins as found on the envelope.  A strip of DSP is added to a long side.  Some cards have the plaid DSP strip shown here and others have the orange dotted DSP seen on the card front.

The truck with pumpkins has been stamped on a Very Vanilla oval and is waiting for you to add some color.

One card is left for October Stamp.  As a reminder, the dates for this stamp camp are October 5, 6, and 7 from 10am to 4pm.  Cards To Go are also available.

Blessings, Rosemary – H(630.759.3089) – C(630.759.3089) – paperrose01@aol.com
